Where it began
Marcus grew up in London in the swinging sixties listening to Jazz, Motown, Soul and great British bands like the Beatles, Stones, Kinks & The Small Faces. He had music at the heart of his life as a child and learned to work the vinyl record player from the age of 3, driving Mum & Dad crazy singing along with all the hits!
From trumpet to vocals
Marcus was in the church choir with his Mum and the family sang Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong songs at home and at parties where he was a natural performer from his early years. His first instrument was the trumpet. His training was Classical, switching to Jazz & Soul in his teens. As he grew up singing and playing in bands, he was inspired by seeing some of his heroes perform live in London including Nina Simone, The Drifters and James Brown whom he saw at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1985.

After training to be a teacher, meeting his wife Steph and living in Japan, he moved to Hampshire with her and their 3 young children. Here, as well as being Deputy Head of a large comprehensive school, he learned operatic vocal techniques with Hampshire based soprano Rebekah Abbot. Marcus spent 10 great years as lead singer for the popular party band Redzone playing pubs, clubs & private parties. Here he honed his front man skills and became the relaxed, confident performer he is today.

All aboard the Night Train
In 2014, he formed the showstopping 7 piece Soul band, 'Night Train' singing lead vocals alongside lead female vocalist Silla Moseley (pictured), traveling widely playing at hotels and wedding venues. This gave him lots of experience working directly with clients, learning & arranging their special songs and creating the perfect atmosphere for their weddings & parties.
And this is now
Marcus brings his distinctive, rich baritone to the songs he loves. Acclaimed for his vocal quality, stage presence and easy rapport with audiences of all ages, performing solo streamlines the booking process and gives him the freedom to ‘read the room’ and choose the perfect songs for the occasion. Marcus has honed his stagecraft performing at weddings, special occasions and events for prestigious clients such as Thatcher’s Cider, John Lewis and the Royal Air Force.
