Where it began
My family were musical and I grew up in London in the swinging sixties listening to Jazz, Motown, Soul and great British bands like the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I’ve had music in my heart from before I can remember. I started operating my parents’ vinyl record player when I was only 3 and drove them mad by singing along with ‘Rescue Me’ by Fontella Bass over and over again. Now, I get to sing it live!
From trumpet to vocals
My Mum was in the church choir and we sang Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong songs at home as well as at parties where I got a taste for the stage early on. I wanted to learn trumpet as I longed to play the theme music from Coronation Street! I was given my first trumpet when I was 14 and trained in this as well as vocals, singing and playing in various choirs and bands. I was inspired by seeing some of my heroes live including Nina Simone, The Drifters and James Brown.

After training to be a teacher, meeting my beautiful wife Steph and living in Japan, we moved to Hampshire with our 3 young children. Here, as well as being Deputy Head of a large comprehensive school, I spent 10 great years as lead singer for the popular party band Redzone playing pubs and clubs. I honed the craft of being the front man, working with all audiences, reading the mood and choosing the best songs to fill the dancefloor.
All aboard the Night Train
In 2014, I formed a 7 piece Soul band, 'Night Train' with male and female vocalists and a brass section, travelling widely playing at hotels and wedding venues. This gave me lots of experience working directly with clients creating the perfect atmosphere for their wedding party.
And this is now
Now, I’m a full-time solo singer working across the South and Midlands. I use bespoke backing tracks which are specially created for me by a studio in Cambridgeshire. Playing solo streamlines the booking process for clients and gives me the freedom to sing a wide variety of genres from atmospheric Jazz & Swing to Soul & Pop for dancing. I bring my live experience and love of the music to your event, paying personal attention to every detail. With a repertoire of over 250 songs, I can guarantee your event will be a success.
